Log every Lemon Squeezy or Gumroad sale to Notion, with a welcome email

When a sale comes in, this workflow creates a row in a Notion Clients database and emails the buyer a welcome with how to start. It comes with a 14-day launch checklist for getting the listing live in the first place.

  • Setup: 60 to 90 minutes
  • n8n + Notion
  • Uses standard n8n nodes that work on n8n Cloud and self-hosted.

How it works under the hood, node by node

  1. Webhook: Receives the sale event from Lemon Squeezy or Gumroad (POST /launch-week-sale).
  2. IF: is it an order?: Checks the event name contains 'order' so refunds and other events are ignored.
  3. Notion: create page: Adds the buyer to the Clients database with product, amount and source.
  4. Send Email: Sends the welcome email ('You're in: here's how to start').
  5. Respond to Webhook: Returns 200 so the platform does not retry.
  6. Sticky note: Lemon Squeezy and Gumroad payloads differ: confirm the mapping after one real test purchase.

Also in the download

  • A 14-day launch checklist: listing draft, assets and pricing, soft share, wiring sale to CRM, a test purchase, launch, support macros, retrospective
  • Welcome and day-1 tips emails
  • Claude prompts for listing copy and launch posts
  • A credentials checklist for Lemon Squeezy or Gumroad, Notion and your email sender

Set it up

  1. Create the Clients database with the properties above.
  2. Import the workflow and copy its production webhook URL.
  3. In Lemon Squeezy (Settings, Webhooks) or Gumroad (Settings, Advanced, Ping), paste that URL.
  4. Add your Notion and SMTP credentials in n8n.
  5. Buy your own product in test mode, then check the Notion row and the welcome email before activating.

Stuck on the import? Importing an n8n workflow and setting up the Notion database cover the common snags.

Questions

Why not use Gumroad's or Lemon Squeezy's built-in emails?

Use them if they are enough. This workflow is for when you want the buyer in your own Notion CRM too, with status you can update, and a welcome email you control.

Will refunds create rows?

No. The IF node only passes order events. To mark refunds, add a second branch that finds the client by email and sets Status to Refunded (the Stack includes this).

Does it work with Stripe?

The free Sale kit ships Lemon Squeezy and Gumroad mapping. Stripe checkout.session.completed is included in the $99 Indie Operator Stack (same Normalize sale node). If you only need the free kit on Stripe, swap the field mapping using the Stack setup guide as a reference.
